Landon Scriber was born and raised in Pineville, Louisiana and currently serves as director of choral activities at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He received his bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from Mississippi College, master’s degree in Choral Conducting from Louisiana State University and Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Prior to his time at CCM, Scriber was director of choral activities at Alexandria Senior High School, music director at Emmanuel Baptist Church of Alexandria, Louisiana, and sang with Coro Vocati, a professional choral ensemble based in Atlanta.
Currently, Scriber sings for Cincinnati’s Vocal Arts Ensemble and frequents as a guest clinician. Some of his past performances include the “young man” soli in Kodály’s Mátra Pictures for Coro Vocati’s ACDA Southern Division performance, the Fence (that night) in Coro Vocati’s stage production of Craig Hella Johnson’s Considering Matthew Shepard, lead baritone for the England-based C.S. Lewis Institute Chamber Choir, bass soloist for Mozart’s Requiem at Louisiana State University and Tennessee Wesleyan College, baritone soloist for Vox Anima London’s Tuvayhun, Pilatus in CCM’s production of J.S. Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, baritone for CCM’s Professional Choral Residency with Gallicantus and baritone soloist for CCM Chamber Choir’s performance of Gregory Spears’ The Tower and the Garden.
